WONDERFUL WORLD OF WIKIS
Uploading & Editing Content for the Wiki: An Introduction.
Select the text from your Word file (either highlight a section or press Ctrl + A to select everything)
Press Ctrl + C to copy
Click Edit on the wiki page (small pencil logo) to enable editing of the page
Press Ctrl + V to paste within that page.
You may find that some formatting is lost (gaps & spaces). This can be corrected directly within the wiki page itself.
Fonts, text colour, styles etc. can be altered through using the editing toolbar. This also allows you to insert new links & files.
Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks pasted directly from a Word Document should work automatically. However, when working within the WIKI editor you can use the INSERT LINK menu to make prettier hyperlinks by first:
Selecting a block of text that will become clickable (the button for the link) and then clicking on links. Then choose between Wiki Links (stuff already on the Wiki) and External Links (Web links outside the Wiki)
For Wiki Links choose the page to link to from the drop down list.
For External Links paste the web address into the Address Window (Ctrl + V)
Paste its URL (web address) from the address window of your internet browser into the EXTERNAL LINK address window of your WIKI page (LINK BUTTON on WIKI toolbar then Ctrl + V to paste)
In the LINK TEXT window type the text that is the title for the link that you have added.
Tick the NEW WINDOW box so that when the viewer clicks that link they open a new window with your linked page in it.
